CDL Training in Vermont

Vermont CDL TrainingBefore you begin CDL training in Vermont, it’s important to know the basic requirements. The following section contains important information about some of those requirements.

  • You must have a valid Vermont driver’s license and be at least 18 years old in order to be issued a commercial driver’s instruction permit.
  • You are eligible for commercial drivers license at age 18, but are limited to operating a commercial vehicle only within the state of Vermont. This includes the transportation of hazardous materials.


  • If you plan to transport hazardous materials or any other cargo across state lines, you must be 21 years old.
  • According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, you must have a physical exam every two years.
