CDL Trianing in KansasTo begin CDL training in Kansas you must meet the following requirements.

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age. A minimum of 18 years is acceptable if all the commercial driving will be done within the state of Kansas, if the applicant will not be transporting any hazardous materials requiring placarding, and if the applicant does not intend to drive a double or triple trailer rig.
  • You must prove you are physically capable of obtaining a DOT medical examiner’s card before you will be issued a CDL permit and before you will be allowed to take any CDL skills tests.
  • You must also qualify for a CDL based on your driving record.
  • If you have a license from any state besides Kansas, you will not be able to obtain a Kansas CDL.
  • You will be unable to obtain a Kansas CDL if your current commercial driving privilege is subject to disqualification from Kansas or any other state.
  • You will be denied a Kansas CDL if your license is currently canceled, denied, revoked, or suspended.
  • You will be ineligible for Kansas CDL if you have been convicted of operating a commercial motor vehicle while impaired within the last two years.
  • You must provide your Kansas drivers license, and show proof of your Social Security number.
  • You will be required to take and successfully pass all the exams that apply to your license class and your endorsement requirements.
  • You must meet Kansas driver record eligibility requirements as determined by the state.
  • You must fill out an application, and passed the required knowledge and vision tests before a CDL Temporary Instruction Permit will be granted.
  • You must pay the Kansas CDL fees and then schedule, take, and pass the Kansas CDL skills test.
