CDL Training in Rhode Island

Rhode Island CDL TrainingThe following list outlines some of the requirements needed in order to start CDL training in Rhode Island.

  • You must be 21 years of age or older. If you are at least 18 years old you are eligible for a commercial drivers license valid only within the state of Rhode Island.
  • You cannot be carry licenses from other states, from Mexico, or from Canada.
  • Your regular Rhode Island drivers license must have been valid for at least one year and you cannot have any suspensions or revocations associated with your license.
  • You must provide your Social Security card.
  • You must complete a commercial drivers license application, including whatever certifications or endorsements you require.

  • You must take and successfully pass the written exams as well as the road test, and provide proof of passing to the drivers license office.
  • Applicants must pass a required vision test.
  • Before you will be issued a CDL temporary instruction permit, you will be required to pass the appropriate knowledge tests and the vision test.
  • All required fees must be paid.
  • When you have successfully pass the knowledge tests, you must schedule, take and successfully pass the CDL skills test.
